How to Day-hike to this Hidden Waterfall in the Three Sisters Wilderness, Deschutes National Forest

Hiking to Chush Falls and back can take anywhere between 2 to 3 hours. The best time to go is late spring during a weekday (the water flow will be high and less crowds). This hike is pretty flat with only a few steeper sections and is considered moderate. For a step-by-step guide, watch the whole video.

Additional information:
💧Chush fall is 67 feet high and has a width of 80+ feet.
📍Located within the Deschutes National Forest, Three Sisters Wilderness in Oregon.
🥾An easy 2.2-mile hike to get to the falls.
🏔️Stunning views of the Three Sisters & Broken Top volcanoes can be seen from the trail.
💥 The hike itself hugs Whychus Creek, trails through an old burn, and requires a few fun creek crossings. Upstream from the fall, there are several smaller waterfalls for those looking to bushwhack in Wilderness; prepare for ticks.
🎟️This trail has limited access for overnight use from June 15th-October 15th and requires a special Central Cascades Wilderness Permit that can be purchased at recreation.gov. Day Use hikers can issue themselves a free Wilderness permit at the trailhead; this trail is dog-friendly, thank you for keeping your dog(s) leashed! 🐶

⚠️Etiquette for “Social Trails”: Generally, it's advised to avoid hiking on unsanctioned trails to protect habitat, wildlife, and minimize environmental impact. However, at this particular trail, the maintained path ends atop a hill with limited views of the waterfall, prompting the formation of a "social trail." Such trails emerge when numerous trail users compact a path leading to a destination or sometimes result from user-created shortcuts. The social trail descending to this waterfall (located to the right of the “trail ends here” sign) is steep and could potentially get you hurt. Please refrain from taking shortcuts to prevent additional erosion.
