    I presented to the scientists of the USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory to demonstrate how to simplify complex geoscience for public audiences.

  • Outdoor Adventure Leadership program I created and led through Bend Parks & Recreation District.

    The best way to capture the imagination of participants during programs is to have them do fun activities they wouldn't get to do at home; here we built and put out fires at Tumalo State Park.

    During a brush-up on avalanche awareness, rescue training, and digging snow-pits, I also touched on snow crystal morphology.

A complex topic with many viewpoints. My perspective comes from years serving boots on the ground as a park & wilderness ranger across federal, state, and local agencies, plus service on outdoor recreation nonprofit boards that steward the lands we enjoy.
